104 CCA The Summer Classic Car Sale June 2023 classiccarauctions.co.uk LOT 594 Estimate: £10,000 - £12,000 1960 TRIUMPH HERALD 948 SALOON Tidy Herald 948cc Saloon that appears to have covered just 3,762 miles from new! • The Triumph Herald burst onto the scene in 1959 and was an instant success offering Italian styling, independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and a turning circle tighter than a London Taxi • Some 60 years later, they make great ‘starter’ classics thanks to superb parts availability, easy maintenance and excellent practicality • 756 BGO dates from 1960 and is a 948cc, two-door Saloon finished in Powder Blue and white with a blue/grey interior • It was initially registered on 01/11/1960 to its first owner, Miss Winifred Witchell • The current indicated mileage is 3,762 which our vendor believes to be from new. There is not a great deal of paperwork supporting the car’s early history apart from the original ‘buff’ logbook showing its first two owners and an MOT dated 11/11/2009 at 3,740 miles • Some recommissioning work (engine, brakes, clutch and running gear) was carried out in 2009 by a Norfolk specialist and the tyres were replaced then originals with the car).
