94 CCA The Summer Classic Car Sale June 2023 classiccarauctions.co.uk LOT 584 Estimate: £12,000 - £15,000 1983 ROVER SD1 3500 VANDEN PLAS Believed to have been featured by the factory in their launch brochure and modelled by Corgi Cars, this 58,000-mile Vanden Plas SD1 is rather special. • This rare example was the Factory press car and Austin Rover brochure car with the Factory-issued registration number A24 WOE • Understandably, as a Factory demonstrator, it was finished in the very stylish colour combination of Opaline with Bitter Chocolate leather • Originally designated for Australia and factory-fitted with an Australian home-market fuel-injection system but, in the event, never went there • A24 WOE was used by Corgi Models as the basis for a run of 1,000 Special Edition collectable model cars, one of which is included in the sale • Subject to a full restoration around ten years ago with three photo albums documenting the process • Recently serviced with a fresh MOT (no advisories).
