144 CCA The Classic Car Sale at Stoneleigh Park 2024 classiccarauctions.co.uk LOT 833 Estimate: £14,000 - £18,000 1984 PEUGEOT 205 1.6-LITRE GTI Very rare, early, 103bhp, 1,600cc GTi recently subject to a £25,000 restoration and in superb order throughout. • The 205 GTi has long been regarded as one of the finest hot hatches ever produced, mating a featherweight chassis with superbly communicative handling and a rev-happy, naturally-aspirated engine • First registered in 1984, this early pre-Phase One is powered by the 1,580cc XU5J engine producing 103bhp (the 115bhp, XU5JA engine arrived a little later) • Having had just one previous owner, our vendor felt that it was the ideal basis for a full restoration • Carried out during 2021/2, the restoration was fully photo-documented and represented an investment of £25,000.
