176 CCA The Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show Sale 2024 LOT 351 Estimate: £10,000 - £12,000 1997 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI TYPE-R (VERSION 3) Just arrived from long term ownership in Sweden, this Type-R (Version 3) is a very well cared- for example of a rare model. • Apart from the bodyshell, differences between the Type-R and the JDM four-door STi models included a short-ratio gearbox, an adjustable Electromechanical Centre Differential (DCCD), the absence of ABS, Intercooler water spray, two opposed pistons on the rear brake calipers (instead of four) and some cosmetic differences like rear tinted glass, a radio/aerial delete, and the 555 SWRT seats (one year only) • This Impreza Type-R (Version 3) was exported from the UK to Sweden in 2009 and has just arrived back having been imported by its owner of eight years in Sweden • It was built on 25/03/1997, finished in Sonic Blue and is car number #691/1371 and 285/621 in Sonic Blue • Powered by its original 2-litre EJ20K with a VF23 turbo, the engine was subject to a rebuild in 2014 by JOB-parts (in Sweden) and is now running at c.300bhp • External upgrades are listed on the website.
